Employee Onboarding/Offboarding

General Information

Onboarding: Please report new hires to the Office of Information Technology (OIT) as soon as possible, especially so, in cases where procuring new equipment is essential. In addition to provisioning the equipment, for most positions, access will need to be granted to multiple resources and services. Employee Onboarding minimally includes the following components in partnership with OIT:

• Identifying equipment requirements, and procuring equipment if needed
• Preparing equipment for new employee
• Granting access to resources and services
• Reviewing technology services and setting up the equipment with the new employee

 

Offboarding: Please report employee separations to the Office of Information Technology (OIT) as soon as possible. In addition to recovering university assets and revoking access, employees are often in possession of critical university data that needs to be identified and transitioned to an existing employee within the department. Employee Offboarding minimally includes the following components in partnership with OIT:

• Identifying and securing all equipment in possession of employee
• Identification of university data, backup, and transition plans
• Revoking access to resources and services (including databases)
• Preparing equipment for reissue

Eligibility

Most faculty and staff with the exceptions listed below:

If the employee to be onboarded or offboarded works in healthcare operations or any healthcare-related academic or business unit, do not use this service. Instead, the employee's supervisor must use the appropriate service in the Healthcare Role and Access Management category.

Cost

Generally, there is currently no charge for this service. However, additional costs may apply, for example, if new equipment or software is required.
