General Information

CMU maintains a number of back-end technologies required to provide a robust network infrastructure. Network services include, but are not limited to:

  • Wired Networking
  • Wireless Networking
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Campus Backbone
  • DNS
  • Network Registration
  • Static IP Addresses
  • VLAN Management

Eligibility

All faculty, staff, students, guests, alumni, and any members of the general public benefit from network services. Eligibility to request these services, however, varies based on the specific infrastructure service being utilized or requested, and specific restrictions may apply.

Cost

Generally, there are no costs associated with network services applicable to end users. However, there may be costs associated with implementation of these services as part of new building development, in relation to projects, and for other special purposes.
