Associating a Rubric with a Graded Activity

 

 

Grading with a Rubric Overview

If you plan to use a rubric to grade your students’ work, you must associate said rubric with the activity before students participate. Note that if your graded activity uses a rubric for grading, you must manually post your students’ grades (as opposed to the system posting them automatically).. Additionally, you cannot associate a rubric with an assessment that features test questions.  Watch this short Video on Creating and Editing a Rubric.

Adding a Rubric to a Graded Activity

1. Locate your course and select or create a graded activity.

Note: If you are attempting to associate a rubric with a journal or discussion forum, you must first enable grading.

2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner to view the settings area.

3. In the newly opened right-hand settings menu, scroll down until you reach the Additional Tools area. Select the Add Grading Rubric option.

4. Select Create to create a rubric from scratch or use the Generate option to create a rubric using AI. Below these options, your existing rubrics will be listed. Select View to edit your rubric or Add to associate it with the given assignment. Save your work when you are finished.
