Body

Overview

Once you have created a rubric and associated it with an assessment or discussion, you can use it to grade your students’ work.

Notes:

  • You cannot edit a rubric once you have used it to grade your students.
  • Rubrics can be used to grade any activity, so long as it is not a manual column.
  • You can override rubric grades.
  • Students can review the rubric, your selected scores, and all feedback.

Procedure

Enter the grading view of a graded activity. While the view may vary slightly between assignment types, the rubric will appear on the right side of the screen in a vertical format.

Note: If the rubric is not visible, locate and click on the grid icon. Like the rubric itself, it will always appear on the right side of the screen or within the grade pill in the upper right corner.

You will see each criteria, its categories, and the points, percentages, or ranges available. You may collapse or expand a category by clicking on it. Click on the relevant score to assign it for the category. If you are using a point or percentage range, you must type out the points or percentage you will assign to the student.

Additionally, you may click on the box icon to add feedback for each criterion.

Once you have selected grades for each criterion, remember to post your students’ scores.
