Security Consultation

General Information

All users of University computing resources are responsible for security, proper data stewardship, and the protection of University computing resources. The Office of Information Technology provides information security leadership, guidance, activities, and awareness to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University’s data, systems, and users. 

OIT staff are here to assist with any security related questions. We provide:

  • Security consultation regarding any CMU system, device, or data.
  • Recommendations for the responsible use and proper stewardship of University’s technologies and electronic data when traveling internationally.
  • Loaner devices and laptops when traveling internationally.
  • Systems scanning and review for known vulnerabilities.
  • Recommendations for systems hardening.
  • Many more proactive security communication and consulting services.

Eligibility

All faculty, staff, and students may request consultation.

Faculty and staff may request loaner phones or laptops when traveling internationally.
