Final Review Before Opening Course to Students

Before making the course shell available to students, ensure your course is prepared for student access and learning by completing the tasks below:

Course Prep Checklist

Use the Course Prep Checklist to ensure you have thoroughly prepared and configured your course shell for student access and learning.

Update Due Dates & Visibility of Course Content Using Batch Edit

Update Due Dates in the Course using the Batch Edit feature to collectively update due dates throughout the course. Also, update Visibility using the Batch Edit feature.

My Textbooks

Check the My Textbooks menu button to confirm materials used in your course are displayed.  If you see "No Materials Associated with this Course" AND if it is within 1-2 Weeks before the start of class, submit a ticket for assistance in getting materials to populate.

Student Preview Mode

Lastly, enter into Student Preview Mode to view the course as a student.  If items are hidden from student view that should be accessible, you’ll be able to readily identify missing content items and adjust visibility as needed.

Make the Course Available

Once you have confirmed everything in the course is ready for student access, make the course available.  Send an announcement to students welcoming them to class, informing them the course is open, and provide guidance on how to get started.
