This article covers the setup of an NDI video encoder laptop and NDI video receiver laptop to send high-bandwidth broadcast video signals across the network.
1. Requirements
1.1 - Admin access to 2 Laptops, one for encoding NDI Video, one for receiving NDI Video. Receiving Laptop must have an HDMI (monitor) output port.
PC Minimum requirements for NDI sending/receiving:
– 64bit Microsoft Windows 10 or later
– Intel or AMD CPUs with SSE4 or later
– NVIDIA or Intel GPU
– 6Gb of RAM or better
– 1Gbit/s ethernet or better

3. Source Laptop NDI Tools Core Suite Setup
3.1 Download and install NDI Core Tools Suite.
3.2. Launch the NDI Screen Capture App. Note: If the app is listed as 'Screen Capture HX', hover mouse over the app, click the settings icon in the upper right, then select 'Screen Capture' instead of 'Screen Capture HX'. Then launch the app.
3.3. After launching the Screen Capture App, it begins running in the background and you now have a system tray icon available where you can choose settings and sources to share via NDI.
3.4. From the system tray, right click on the Screen Capture App icon, then select Webcam Video Source and choose the 'USB Capture SDI Interface.'
3.5. Then from the system tray again, right click on the Screen Capture icon, then select Webcam Audio Source and choose the 'SDI (USB Capture SDI) interface', or whatever other audio source/interface that will be used.
3.6. Congratulations! Now your stream is being broadcast over the NDI protocol on the network.
3.7. Locate the IP address of the sending/encoding laptop and send it to the laptop on the receiving end.
4. Receiver Laptop Setup
4.1 Download and install NDI Core Tools Suite.
4.2 Open the Access Manager App as shown below and enter administrator credentials.
4.3. Click External Sources, then click the 'plus icon' and enter the IP address of the sending laptop copied from step 3.7. Then click 'OK.'
4.4. Return the the NDI Launcher app and open the Studio Monitor App
4.4. From the menu in the upper left, select the laptop name and choose the available source.
4.5. Once the feed loads, right-click and select 'Settings' then 'Output' then choose the destination output.
4.6. To remove the VU meters in the lower left, right click on the image and go to 'Settings', then 'Output' then select, 'VU Meter' and they will disappear.
4.7. The above configuration assumes that the receiving laptop has an HDMI monitor output to send to the HDMI to SDI conversion device, then into the SDI video switcher and onto Panopto.
