Deleting Course Files in Ultra

This guide pertains to Ultra Course View.

If your course is in Original Course View, see the Original Course View tutorial collection.

Each Blackboard shell has a File Size Quota of 500 megabytes.  All files added to a course count against this quota.  Often, files in a course may be no longer needed or may have multiple copies in existence -- all o f which count against the quota limit.  To free up storage capacity, unused files must be removed from the course by deleting it from the course files area.  To delete files, go to the Blackboard homepage > Tools > Content Collection:

Content Collection from Bb Home Tools

Once in the Content Collection, locate the desired course from the list of courses in which you are an instructor in. Click on course link to open up the course files area:

Accessing Course from Content Collection List

Once inside the course files area, check the box next to the file(s) that are no longer being used in the course, then click Delete, then OK to confirm deletion:

If the files are not in use in the course, the files will be deleted.  If the files are being used in the course, Bb will present the below screen.  Before hitting submit, it should be determined where in the course the files reside and if files are still needed.  Hitting submit on files in use will break the link to the files and result in an error message in the course. Files Still In Use, Not to be Deleted
