Mediated Classrooms: Overview

Tags mediated

Central Michigan University is an institutional leader in the marriage between traditional classroom spaces with the latest technological innovations.  Every learning space on campus has been specially equipped with the latest technology, providing CMU students and faculty the best available classroom experience.

Mediated rooms are equipped with projectors, visualizers, VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray players, and podium computers, all of the multimedia options necessary to provide an excellent learning environment. Classrooms are also equipped to easily connect personal laptops for presentation purposes as well.

In addition to our standard classroom mediation, some rooms are "Chipcast-enabled", meaning they are equipped for screen-capture and audio recording capability. Instructors utilizing this technology can capture their lectures and provide them as audio or video recordings or podcasts to students, or through Blackboard so they may be watched or listened to at another time or location via the web, or on mobile devices.

A comprehensive list of the audio/visual standard equipment available in mediated rooms across campus can be found as an attachment to this article.

If you have any questions pertaining to utilization of technology in or out of the classroom, please contact the CMU Help Desk at (989) 774-3662.
