Announcements (Student View)

Announcements are a tool used by instructors to communicate with students. These communications may notify you about upcoming due dates, changes to the syllabus or course materials, and information about exams and class schedules. Said announcements will appear within your course, CMU email inbox, and activity stream. Note that you are unable to directly reply to an announcement.

Announcement Notifications

As discussed, you will be notified of announcements via your CMU email address and Blackboard pop-up. The pop-up messages will appear upon entering your course in Blackboard. Below are examples of how announcements may appear.

Checking and Reviewing Announcements

To check for previous announcements, click on the announcement tab. This tab will have a small purple number on it indicating unread communications. Here, you will see all previous announcements made and sent in your course, so long as they have remained available per your instructor. To mark the announcement as read, click on the empty circle to the left of the item. To view the entire announcement, click on the bold title (i.e., "Chapter Three Reflection Reminder" in the example below).
