Reviewing Instructor Feedback
Enter your Blackboard course of choice and select the Gradebook option from the upper menu. In the case that your instructor has recently entered grades, a small purple number will appear next to the Gradebook tab.
In the Gradebook, you will see multiple rows containing the assignment titles, their due dates, grading status, and your overall grade. Graded items containing feedback will be identified with a purple box under the “Feedback” option and will appear at the top of the list. Clicking this icon will allow you to review instructor feedback and annotations. Newly graded assignments will be indicated by a purple dot.
If the item has allowed multiple attempts, clicking the purple box will display a small window containing each of the user’s attempts. Select the attempt that you would like to review.
Reviewing Feedback and Annotations
Students can access the assignment submission review page from these locations:
- The Gradebook feedback button for the assignment.
- The small panel that displays when students access an assignment from the Course Content page.
If a student submits multiple attempts, they can review each on the submission review page. By default, the student sees the appropriate graded attempt. The instructor defines which attempt to grade in the assignment's final grade calculation setting.
The assignment submission review page displays the following information and feedback formats:
- Assessment content
- Student submission with inline feedback
- Submission timestamp
- Submission receipt
- Final grade and calculation model
- Attempt grade and feedback
- Override grade and feedback (if applicable)
- Optimized display of rubrics information and criterion feedback

If you have submitted a Microsoft, PDF, or image file, your instructor may have left annotations for your review. Upon reviewing your submitted document, you may see writing, images, or comments on your work.
Additionally, under the “Feedback” area, you may review instructor comments. Feedback may appear as a typed comment, picture, link, or audio/video recording.
In the case that your graded activity contains individual questions (i.e., multiple choice, essay, true/false), your instructor may also provide individual feedback for each question in addition to overall feedback.
How To Access Recorded Feedback
Students can access the recording with grade details and any other feedback you add. The recordings stream to student devices and don't require them to download anything. Students can play the recordings on most modern browsers without any additional plugins or extensions. Students can't download or save recordings.
Setup Your Microphone and Camera
Select the gear icon to set up and test your microphone and camera.
- Set up microphone: Having trouble recording audio? Use this option to test your audio and select the input source. If the volume level moves, your device's audio is being detected and should record as expected. Select Yes - It's working to exit the test.
- Set up camera: Select an input source for your camera. If you see your image on the screen, you're all set! Select Yes - It's working to exit the test.
Issues with your audio or video?
- Does the browser have permission to access your camera and microphone?
- Are the audio or video controls enabled? A line through the icons means that a device is not enabled.
- Have you installed the latest version of your browser?
