Overall Grade Calculation Rule Explanation

When setting up the Overall Grade column, when either Points or Weighted are used as the Calculation Types, a calculation rule can be added to either drop the lowest or highest scores or use only the score identified.  From the Calculations Details screen of the Overall Grade column in the Gradebook, click on Edit Calculation Rule within the category where a calculation rule is desired:

In the side panel menu that opens, enable Category Calculation Rule by toggling it on:

Dropping Scores Option

If desired, instructors can identify whether to drop the lowest or the highest scores from the chosen category by clicking the radial button next to Drop Scores, then identifying the number of scores to drop in either the drop from lowest or drop from highest category, click Save when complete.

Use Only Option

Instructors can select the Use Only option to identify whether to drop the lowest or the highest score from the chosen category by clicking the radial button next to Use Only, then identifying which score to drop - either the lowest or the highest from the chosen category, click Save when complete.
