Journals in Blackboard Ultra (Student View)

This guide pertains to Ultra Course View.

If your course is in Original Course View, see the Original Course View tutorial collection.

Overview

Journals are a personal space that may be used to either communicate directly with the instructor or as a self-reflective tool. Instructors may create journal assignments to allow students to provide constructive criticism for the class, ask questions, reflect on assignments, and so on. Students may create an unlimited number of entries for a given journal.

Explanation

Journals are indicated by a pencil and notebook icon in the content area.

Clicking the journal link takes the user to a new tab. This tab contains a prompt, due date, and total score (if the journal is graded).

To create a response, click the “Type an entry” text in the bar. Select “Post” to post your option.

To edit or delete existing posts, select the three dots icon next to your post.

If your instructor has responded to your post, you will see a blue icon appear next to the relevant journal link.

You may respond to your instructor’s comments after entering the journal link and selecting “Type a comment”.
