Profile Settings and Personalization

This guide pertains to Ultra Course View.

If your course is in Original Course View, see the Original Course View tutorial collection.

Why Should I Edit My Profile?

Personalizing your Blackboard Ultra account can allow your students to get to know you. The tools listed below help you to set a nickname, pronouns, your name's pronunciation, and a profile picture. Additionally, you may also use the profile function to modify your privacy preferences and notification settings.

Add or Change Your Profile Picture

1. Once you have logged into Blackboard, select your name from the list of options on the left side.

2. Hover your mouse over your profile picture and select the pencil icon.

3. Select the Upload New Profile Picture option. From here, you may either select a saved photo or drag over a picture file. The picture that you insert will replace the current photo.

4. The image is automatically saved after uploading. You may close the panel and return to your profile.

5. To remove your profile picture, follow steps one and two. This time, click the garbage can icon to remove the photo.

Where do Profile Pictures Appear?

Your profile picture appears on course content pages, course cards, rosters, discussions, conversations, and messages next to your activity. You see student profile pictures throughout your courses in the same areas and in the Gradebook.

Accessing your profile page allows you to modify your information. You may edit your name, add a pronunciation, or change your password. Under Additional Information, you may add your gender, an additional name, birthday, and educational level.

1. Once you have logged into Blackboard, select your name from the list of options on the left side.

2.  Under Basic Information, select the pencil icon next to any of the options that you wish to modify.
