Transact: Merchants and Profit Centers

A Merchant is set up when configuring the Transact Server. One Merchant must exist, however, additional Merchants can be added for on and off-campus. Merchants allow separate business entities to use the same Transaction System but maintain data integrity. A Merchant owns products, doors, events and User Group permissions.

A User must have a Merchant and Profit Center selected before performing most tasks.

 

Profit Centers

A Profit Center is a business location. The Profit Center can be a physical place or a virtual establishment to group POS devices or isolate transactions. The Profit Center tracks customer information, meal plans, products, POS, stored value, and more. They are Merchant specific.

 

In most cases the Central Card office will manage the creation and changes to Merchants and Profit Centers.
