Group Member Evaluation Overview

Forms can be used in a variety of situations to gather feedback from students.  Student input can be gathered on how team members performed on a group assignment through the completion of a Group Member Evaluation Form.  This feedback is valuable to the instructor to ensure the accurate awarding of an individual score on a group project.  With this form, students share their input regarding teammate's collaboration, participation, and contribution to the assignment.

Pre-Created Group Member Evaluation Form

To aid instructors with setting up a Group Member Evaluation (GME) form in their course, The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Support has created a form that can be copied into any instructor's teaching shell from the Bb Ultra Repository.   The form is set up to evaluate (4) group members.  For groups with more than four members, additional questions can be added.  For groups with less than four members, unused questions can be omitted.

GME Questions

Questions provided on the form seek to obtain input on the level of collaboration, participation, and the quality of work each student contributed to the assignment.  These questions are repeated on the form so they can be answered for each teammate.  Questions for each team member are separated by a page break to organize and house them together.

The form is set up to be worth 10 points.  The instructor can modify the form as needed, including point value.

The questions asked on the form are as follows:

1. Team Member Name and Group Name  (This question allows students to type in their teammate's name and group name)

The following questions are answered by selecting a score on a Likert scale of 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree)

2. Attended group meetings regularly and arrived on time.

3. Contributed meaningfully to group discussion; contributed useful ideas.

4. Met stipulated deadlines on time.

5. Prepared work in a quality manner.

6. Demonstrated a cooperative, supportive and respectful attitude.

7. Contributed significantly to the success of the project.

8. Did equal portion of work; successfully completed tasks responsible for.

OVERALL FEEDBACK (This question is an essay question for text submission)
9. Provide your overall feedback on you and/or your teammate's contribution and participation in the group assignment.   Where did they excel?  What are areas of improvement?

Viewing & Grading GME Submissions

From the Gradebook, Gradable Items tab, the instructor can click on the GME Survey and view student responses to the survey by clicking on the name of a student who has submitted the form:

Points can be awarded on the Submissions Tab shown above in the Grade column by entering the score for completing the survey (if any) in the grade pill.
