Required Client Update
OIT will use Software Center to push out the updated client. However, if your computer was powered off, not connected to the VPN, or unavailable when we push the update, you will get this error message when you try to log in the first time:
To resolve that you’ll need to navigate to Software Center and update the client Software on your machine. Windows Key > Software Center> Enter > Perceptive Content (Icon) > Install.
For more information about updating via Software Center, see SCCM: Installing Software Through Software Center.
If you have the new EP2 Client, you’ll notice a slight change in the login screen. However, the functionality is the same.
Wildcard Searching
The biggest change is associated with wildcard searches. For years we have been using the % to conduct wild card searches in Perceptive content in conjunction with the Starts With parameter. That will no longer work. Starts with is now literal. If the search field starts with A you can not use %A you must use A only.
However, we can use a new parameter called Contains which does not need wildcards. See below for a few examples.
- No documents found with % as Wildcard
- Thousands of documents found where Field1 starts with A
- Thousands of documents where Field 1 contains an A (No wildcard needed)
We are working diligently to try and update all the Public Filters prior to the upgrade. Hundreds of these filters have instructions to Use % for Wildcard on each index field. However, we are unable to fix are Private Filters that may have the same instructions. If you have created Private Filters, you will need to edit and save them yourself.
- Example of a current Multi-Find Search Filter:
- Example of edited Filter (all index fields are now Contains no wildcard needed) If you type an exact value it will return only documents with that exact value
New Web Client: Experience
The New Web Client can be found here:
The latest version of Perceptive Content replaces the Java-based web client WebNow with a new HTML version called Perceptive Experience. Users can log in through any current browser and search for documents, folders, work in workflow queues, and use annotation.
