No longer have access to your old device?
If you need help activating a new device (like a new phone), but you no longer have access to a device that's enrolled in Duo Security MFA and associated with your account, you have two options available to restore your access to your Global ID account:
Option 1
Activate a new device using self-service options at https://myaccount.cmich.edu by following the process outlined in the video linked below.
NOTE: Access to self-service options requires your account security question and answer.

Option 2
Contact the OIT Help Desk by phone at (989) 774-3662 or by chat at helpdesk.cmich.edu for assistance.

If you still have access to your old device
If you have access to an old device that is currently enrolled in Duo Mobile, you can add a new device by accessing the Duo Mobile device management portal in a web browser. Follow the procedure below to access the Duo Mobile device management portal.
- Download the Duo Mobile app on your new device.

- Open a web browser on your new phone and navigate to https://www.cmich.edu.
NOTE: If you are on campus, disable Wi-Fi on your new device to disconnect from CMU's network.

- In the top right corner, select Sign In.

- Log in with your Global ID and password.

- Ignore the Duo Mobile prompt and instead, select Other options.

- Select the Manage devices option.

- Select the Duo Push option.

- Open the Duo Mobile app on your old device, enter the 3-digit code that is displayed on your new device, and select Verify.

- Go back to the Duo Mobile page in the web browser on your new device to access the device management portal.

Adding a New Phone
In most cases, your primary authentication device should be your mobile phone. Follow the appropriate procedure below depending on whether your new phone has the same number as your previously enrolled phone, or a different number.
Adding a New Phone with the Same Phone Number
- Select I have a new phone located under your previously registered phone.

- Select Get started.

- If prompted, verify ownership of your phone number.

- Select Next once you have the Duo Mobile app downloaded.

- Select Open Duo Mobile.

- Select Save to finalize the device activation process.

- Your new phone is now activated.

Adding a New Phone with a Different Phone Number
- Select Add a device.

- Select the Duo Mobile option.

- Enter your new phone number and select Continue.

- Verify that you entered your phone number correctly and select Yes, it's correct.

- If prompted, verify ownership of your phone number.

- Select Next once you have the Duo Mobile app downloaded.

- Select Save to finalize the device activation process.

- Your new phone is now activated.
