Setting up Your CMU Global ID Account

Visit myaccount.cmich.edu/newaccount and follow the on-screen instructions. For additional assistance, please contact the OIT Help Desk (contact info below).

Setting Up Your DUO Mobile Application

NOTE: International students (those without US residency status) are granted a 30-day exception window from when they are admitted before the required Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) protection is enforced on their accounts during the setup process at https://myaccount.cmich.edu/newaccount. This is intended to allow for a smoother experience coordinating the additional steps and requirements imposed on international students after they are admitted as they apply for housing, register for courses, and address other administrative needs to start attending CMU. Students will receive email notification 7 days prior to MFA being enforced as this 30-day exception window concludes that points to Knowledge Base content and provides contact information for the OIT Help Desk to assist.

  1. Install Duo Mobile from your phone's app (Play Store, Apple App Store, etc.)
  2. Open your phone’s browser, then visit https://www.cmich.edu/centrallink
  3. Click Enroll Now
  4. Click the Start Setup button
  5. Select Tablet as your device. (Even if your mobile device is a cell phone). Click Continue
  6. Click Take me to Duo Mobile
    1. If you’re on a computer, bring up the option to scan a QR code or send an activation link instead
  7. Your Duo app will open and take you through a brief setup
    1. If you’re on a computer, open the Duo app on your phone, set up a new connection, and scan the QR code. That will take you through the Duo set up in the app
  8. Now, when you are prompted for MFA, just open the prompt on your phone and accept it
