Viewing Test Results & Feedback

Students can access the test submission review page to view test feedback from two locations in the course:

  • The Gradebook feedback button for the test
  • From the test itself, on the small panel that displays on the right when a test is accessed from the Course Content page

If multiple attempts of the test were submitted, students can review each attempt on the submission review page. The instructor defines which attempt to grade in the test's final grade calculation setting. If desired, a One-Time View of Test Submission can be configured by the instructor to allow students to view assessment feedback one time immediately after submitting their test.

The test submission review page displays the following information and feedback formats:

  • Test content
  • Student submission with question-level grades and feedback
  • Submission time stamp
  • Submission receipt
  • Final grade and calculation model
  • Attempt grade and feedback
  • Override grade and feedback (if applicable)

NOTE:  If the exam requires use of Respondus Lockdown Browser, then students will have to use Respondus to access test feedback as well.

Feedback Options

Each instructor determines what feedback, if any, is available to students and when that feedback can be accessed.  Test feedback, if allowed, can be set to available immediately upon submission, after your individual score has been posted, after the due date of the test or a specific date identified by the instructor, or after all test scores have been posted.

Feedback Options Disabled

Depending on the test settings, you may view your responses, grades, and feedback. First, click on the test link in the content area.

This will open a menu on the right-hand side of the screen. If feedback has been disabled, you will see this item:

We added a new test result setting option, View submission one time. When a student completes the test, they can review their answers and detailed feedback, such as which questions were answered correctly. The View submission one time option lets instructors provide students with immediate feedback, while maintaining test security.

One Time option in the submission options dropdown in assessment settings

To access this setting option, select Available after submission in the Assessment results section of the Assessment Settings, then select View submission one time from the Customize when the submission content is visible to students drop-down. This drop-down is available only if Allow students to view their submission is selected.

Students benefit from immediate feedback on their test performance in a secure and limited time frame. Restricting access after the review session balances the need for meaningful insights with the importance of maintaining academic integrity.
