Can't Log into Perceptive Content - Error message "Failed to read file (C:\Program Files(X86)\ImageNow\Etc\IN_hwfp.<computer name>

After updating Perceptive Content on 11/27/2023 we had some scan stations that could not log into Perceptive Content.
The error message "Failed to read file (C:\Program Files(X86)\ImageNow\Etc\IN_hwfp.<computer name>

After updating Perceptive Content on 11/27/2023 we had some scan stations that could not log into Perceptive Content.
The error message "Failed to read file (C:\Program Files(X86)\ImageNow\Etc\IN_hwfp.<computer name> 

Resolution 

  1. Login to the local machine with Administrator rights. 

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageNow\ folder 

  1. Edit the Etc Folder so that "Users -(<Machine Name>) has Write permissions.

  2.  Navigate to C:\ProgramData\ImageNow\ folder (normally I have to go start run and map it)

  3. Edit the Etc Folder so that "Users -(<Machine Name>) has Write permissions.

  1. Ensure the user is logged out of Perceptive Content. 

  1. In the Start or Search, locate Apps and Features. 

  1. Select Perceptive Content Desktop Client. 

  1. Select Modify 

  1. Select Next 

  1. Select Repair

  1. Select Next

  1. Select Install 

  1. After a moment the client will be repaired. You may need to restart the computer. 

  1. Log back into Perceptive Content and scan something. 

  1. You will be prompted for a new token. Accept it.
