NOTE: These steps require local administrator privileges. If you are not an administrator on your computer or do not feel comfortable installing or configuring hardware, please contact the Help Desk for assistance.
Firstly, disconnect the scanner from the computer if it is currently connected and don't reconnect it until prompted to do so. Then follow the steps in order to complete the process:
- Install ScanSnap software
- Connect the scanner
- Update the software
- Configure the software
Install ScanSnap Software
- As an administrator, run \\imagenow-prd\Client\Scanner Files\Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500\ScanSnap.exe
- At the ScanSnap Setup screen, click Install Products
- At the Software Selection screen, click ScanSnap
- At the Installation Method screen, select Install from Setup Disc and then click Next
- At the Welcome screen, click Next
- Click OK at the anti-virus information prompt
- At the Setup Type screen, select the Typical installation type then click Next
- At the License Agreement screen, select I accept the terms of the license agreement then click Next
- At the Review screen, click Next to begin the installation
- Allow the installation some time to complete
- At the Auto Power Off information screen, click Next
- At the installation complete screen, click Finish
Connect the Scanner
- When prompted by the software, connect the ScanSnap USB cable and click Next
- At the Power on Scanner screen, ensure the scanner's blue light is on, then click Next
- At the Taskbar Icon verification screen, verify the taskbar icon's status by selecting the appropriate icon then click Next
- If necessary, continue the troubleshooting steps in the installer; otherwise, click Finish
- If prompted to set up for wireless scanning, click Later
Update the Software
- If prompted by the Online Update tool, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next
- Click Install Updates after the update tool finishes scanning to install the updates
- Using the default update recommendations, click Install then click OK at the confirmation prompt
- If prompted, accept any license agreements
- Allow the update some time to complete
- At the installation complete screen, click Complete to finish the update
Configure the Software
- Load a page in the chute and press the scanner's Scan button
- In the Quick Menu application, click the gear icon in the lower right corner of the window
- Move Scan to Print to the top of the list and ensure it is enabled
- Disable any other applications as desired, then click OK
The ScanSnap ix500 scanner does not use a license token in Perceptive Content. Documents are captured by using the ScanSnap software to Scan to Print, then selecting the ImageNow Printer. If necessary, log in to Perceptive Content as a user with the ability to manage capture profiles and create / edit ImageNow Printer profiles as business processes require.
