Perceptive Content: Error - ImageTray C++ Runtime

Tips to resolve the "Runtime Error" problem related to ImageTray.exe during Perceptive Content client installation

Error

When attempting to install the Perceptive Content Client, the installer finishes, but fails to launch the tray icon and generates an error at the final step:

 

Cause

This problem is related to the installation of the Visual C++ redistributable package inside the Perceptive Content Client installer. In most cases where the client was manually installed, the Runtime Library will resolve itself when the computer is rebooted. In some cases where the client was installed through SCCM, the runtime library may not have installed properly.

 

Solution

NOTE: You must be an administrator on the computer to resolve these issues. If you are not an administrator, contact the Help Desk for support.

1. Restart the computer. If the tray appears after restarting, no additional steps are required
    
2. If a reboot does not fix the issue, repair the installation one of two ways:
   • Open Programs and Features, locate Perceptive Content Desktop Client in the list and click Repair

• Run the client installer again, found at \\imagenow-prd\client\current
  1. Follow instructions in the Perceptive Content: Desktop Client Install / Upgrade article
      
  2. When prompted, choose the Repair option

3. Click Next >
    
4. Click Install
    
5. Allow the client some time to repair

3. If repairing the installation does not fix the issue, submit a ticket to the Perceptive Content System for assistance
