If you are a student that just registered for courses, or a faculty / staff member that just had your information (start date) information entered into the Human Resources system, it will take a period of time before your Global ID is created and your email account is activated.
Active Directory accounts, which will allow all user groups to sign into cmich.edu with their Global ID and password, will remain active indefinitely.
Faculty, Staff, or Student:
- "Grace" status is effective for 365 days (one year) after separation date, last employed date, or end date of last registered course
- Office 365 license and cmich.edu email account remain active through "Grace" status period
- Generally, access to most other campus systems is revoked during "Grace" status period
- "Closed" status is effective for 30 days after the conclusion of "Grace" status period
- cmich.edu email account access is locked, but mailbox contents are not yet deleted
- Office 365 license is deactivated
- "Cleared" status is effective immediately after the conclusion of "Closed" status period
- cmich.edu email account mailbox contents are deleted
NOTE: Faculty or Staff members that are terminated for cause may have their accounts terminated immediately for security reasons.
Emeritus Status
Employees that are granted Emeritus status will retain access to their CMU email account indefinitely. They will not retain access to other campus systems or software, and will lose the ability to access and use Office 365 web and desktop apps through their CMU-issued license.
Alumni Status
All students that graduate from the University will earn Alumni status and retain access to their CMU email account indefinitely. They will not retain access to other campus systems or software, and will lose the ability to access and use Office 365 web and desktop apps through their CMU-issued license.
